The admin isn't going to test the advertiser's tolerance by being lax with sexually questionable content.

My opinion of the images in question:

The character's dress reveals a fair amount of her breasts, and the dress barely passes her groin, revealing a lot of her legs. So, considering the partial nudity, those images can certainly be interpreted as erotica, and erotica is usually considered adult content, or at least, Not Safe For Work.

The fact that her breasts are the focal point of the style supports the thought of the work being erotic in nature.
  • Pretty much that. The picture pretty much exists so you can look at her boobs.
  • Default Browser
boobs are sexually content? Isn't even nude. Isn't even real girl x-D
    Jus't my opinion

    Srry, couldn't resist...

  • Pic is lewd (DanMachi FTW!) but not to the point where it's classed as nudity, 18+ or even kaceytron or Hannah Minx status however it's Jasons site and if he doesn't feel like taking risks with his ad-partners then so be it, or will you be the one who pays his rent ?

tl;dr find less seductive images that horny younglings can't rub-off to or host the content on another site.

The same can be said of most of your adverts. Why for example is one of these acceptable to advertisers but not the other?

The only difference I detect is that the skin job is promising sex while the 'toon is only hinting at it.

It was wrong to delete Philip's style, and you shouldn't have done it. Was it really a plunging neckline and a wink that irked your advertisers that once?

  • Can't Jason define pornography by whatever happens to turn him on?
  • edited June 2015 Firefox
I don't believe that Jason is as arbitrary as that. I do believe that he's become unnecessarily conservative lest he lose the funding for Greasyfork, but I believe he can be persuaded to moderate his editorializing given some suitable examples.

I also believe that Jason can speak for himself.
  • Mmmmmm....cartoon-boobies. If that style hadn't been so popular it would still be around. The original version he deleted had like 20,000 installs in the first week. My take on it at the time was that he didn't wanna end up with it deserving a link on the front page or eventually becoming the poster-child style for search results and the like. The style was ridiculous and not incredibly well written seeing as it failed to account for all the endless Google doodles (I glanced at the code, I swear I don't have installed on every computer I own), but calling it adult content is a stretch for something so juvenile.
  • Did anyone by chance click on those "Other Images" in the above style? Wow!! They are links to some pretty explicit frontal nudity replacement pics!! Well, there's a good idea, hide the 18+ urls within the style as comments, no one will catch those, like anyone's monitoring stuff like that. And the template is right there, with a ready supply of users wanting female breasts as their Google style.

Oh nevermind, those weren't really explicit. Guess I'm the only one who would be devious enough to think of something like that...

  • Google is arbitrary and unreasonable. I can wake up to get an e-mail saying they found something they didn't like, and poof, the funding for the site (this site) is gone forever. As much as I like the site, I don't think I like it enough to pay hundreds of dollars per month out of my pocket indefinitely.

So I'm being paranoid with this. If the point of the style is boobs (i.e. you are replacing the "O"s with individual boobs), then I'm going to take it out. And yes, this is solely a judgment call on my part.

So, Botticelli is back as long as Venus isn't part of the logo?

Q: "I am confounded by analyses of Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus” that describe the art as depicting “chaste,” “pure,” “scared,” or “divine love.” How can that be when Venus is conspicuously displaying a labia just above her hand? Is it possible that this masterpiece is Renaissance pornography?"

is there or can't someone of us create a userstyle page targeting pron-sites ?
I have a couple of styles dealing with ads i'd like to share

You add a styles through a web interface, as at Userstyles. Stylish doesn't "see" styles on the site, so you either have to copy and paste the stylesheet or add some Javascript "glue" to the Freestyler pages to handle the Stylish handshake.

Stylesheets are just text documents - you can share them anywhere, really.
  • Google is arbitrary and unreasonable. I can wake up to get an e-mail saying they found something they didn't like, and poof, [it's] gone forever.

Yeah, there's a lot of that goin' round.

I reviewed Google's AdSense policies [1] [2], paying particular attention to its "adult" content policies [3] [4]. Certainly there's enough gray there to fuel your paranoia, but there's also this: Google doesn't require every page on the site to conform to the policy, but only those pages that display its ads. You might have (1) kept the ads and blanked the screenshot or (2) omitted the ads and kept the screenshot instead of (3) blanking the page.

Meanwhile, you should probably blank these too:

    https://userstyles.org/styles/browse?search_terms=fuck et al.
  • not interested in running another 'stylish' software to try and get what i want, if anything that would push me towards replacing stylish with greasemonkey/tampermonkey or make a go at addon development.

Stylish doesn't "see" styles on the site, so you either have to copy and paste the stylesheet or add some Javascript "glue" to the Freestyler pages to handle the Stylish handshake.

what about setting up your own site to handle stylish 'userstyles' ? can I with stylish as-is add and pick up 'install', 'style installed' and 'update' options for a custom site or is stylish 'hardcoded' only to understand userstyles.org ?

On Greasy Fork I'm testing the theory that you can have adult content on the site as long as the pages with ads don't.

It's not just screenshots they're concerned with, either. I got dinged once at the mere mention of an adult site.
  • Our spy-bot has turned up some troubling examples of you displaying our ads on pages mentioning pornography. That's kind of our thing, so...

I'm testing the theory that you can have adult content on the site as long as the pages with ads don't.

I wasn't suggesting that you poke at 'em with a stick, only that you needn't err on the side of caution to satisfy their ToS. (Personally, I was glad to be rid of the furries - eww.) In any case, Google seems to endorse your theory:

"our suggestions for you are ... [either] remove the ads ... or remove that page"
    https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/3394713?hl=en#1 (Q4: "I got warned...")

It's not just screenshots they're concerned with, either.

OK, I was assuming that (1) the text was clean, (2) the stylesheet is text, and (3) the screenshot of the locally-applied stylesheet is somewhere in the gray.

Not necessary. Click "Show code", then copy and paste into Stylish.

Yes, though it's a bit byzantine, and seems like a lot of work for a couple of pr0n styles.

First, provide style metadata in <link rel="stylish-*" href="..." > elements in the page. For Firefox,
      rel=                href=
stylish-id-url A style ID. It should be globally unique.
    In Userstyles, "https://userstyles.org/styles/98765"
stylish-md5-url A version ID, unique among versions of the same style.
    In Userstyles, "https://update.userstyles.org/98765.md5"
    stylish-update-url URL of the stylesheet.
    In Userstyles, "https://userstyles.org/styles/98765/my-style-title.css"
    stylish-code = stylish-update-url
    In Userstyles, "#stylish-code" (don't ask, don't tell)
Second, listen for styleInstalled, styleCanBeUpdated, and styleCanBeInstalled messages. Decorate the "Go!" button accordingly.

Third, send a stylishInstall or stylishUpdate message as appropriate when the "Go!" button is pressed.

Chrome doesn't use stylish-update-url or stylish-code. It retrieves a JSON file from stylish-code-chrome; it's up to you to produce that file from the Firefox-y stylesheet. Messages work the same way in Chrome, but "Chrome" is appended to each message name (i.e., stylishInstallChrome).

  • btw Thanks hide for the information regarding the site-setup to support custom userstyles, ive bookmarked the thread if I ever manage to start working on it.
  • I'm not following this thread nor have a strong opinion about this topic, but regarding advertising in here, this amused (and a bit disgusted) me right now:
  • You had me at "amused", you lost me at "disgusted".
  • I wish advertisers would catch on to the fact that if their ads were not scummy, intrusive, and even malicious in some cases, I might actually participate in them instead of blanket blocking them with ABP.
  • Pfft, no you wouldn't.

    Good to know!

    Pfft, no you wouldn't.

If a decent ad is at least moderately entertaining it's done half its job, even if I don't buy the product I'll at least look it over. If it's done really well and managed to go viral then myself and everyone else will go and seek it out, e.g. The Man Your Man Could Smell Like. If I were advertising, that's the audience I'd want.
  • On Greasy Fork I'm testing the theory that you can have adult content on the site as long as the pages with ads don't.

Well, test concluded. No, you cannot have "adult content" on the same site as Adsense, even if they're not on the same page.
