Posted By: ChoGGi:) i know it isn't the same, but it could do something like what you want to do
Back to folders and tags. I'll go slow. I have over 50 styles that are disabled 'cause i'm either working on them or whatever else. To get them out of my way, i name them so that they show either on top or bottom of my sidebar. I would like to be able to have just a couple of folders where i can store those styles and be able to disable the whole folder and/or selected styles in it. I don't want the folders be hidden from my view. Now, please, tell me how tagging can achieve this, please. TIA!
No tags or snapshots will do what i want because i don't need sorting, i want to see all my styles just like it is now but also have ability to put them in folders and display those folders on top of the list. If i take a shot of those styles only, i will have to click the button/Restore shot, wait ~2 min. and ... loose my active styles on restore. With folders, i can click +/- to expand the folder and still have all my styles displayed.
Should i come back later with this? or you're set on 'no' firmly?
For instance, you post a new style, save the location, paste in the local style, save-n-close. Now open again, uncheck Update ('cause the checkbox doesn't show the first time around), save-n-close. If there's a shorter way to save the location, please let me know,
after you post the new style you can install it from US
(saving in xml is still an extra step 'cause xml is unusable to me otherwise and i export/import as text files).
how is it unusable? and you want to continue this in the SC thread as it is getting off topic
OK. Time to bring the thread to the first page anyway. 1. That's what i said before somewhere else: i write a style, save it, click Page, new style page opens. When style is posted, i copy/paste its address in my new style editor. Save/close. Now i have to re-open it, uncheck Update, Save/close again. If i have to install it from US, it means i have to uninstall my new style and then reinstall it from site, uncheck Update, Save/close. Sorry, but i don't see which of this two ways is better.
2. Save as xml does not work for me. It saves a few styles, not all. In a strange order i can't understand. Maybe it needs more time? Don't know. Created a new profile (notice, i did this 3 times by now), clicked import (the styles from my main profile saved as xml) - nothing. No styles show, restart and all. Looking at the file, it's just too small, i know they're not all there. Open it, i can see they are not. What's 'Group' is for again? Seems like you can only name a file if you check that. Oh, and the garbage characters all over when you open it with an editor (like &, %, etc.) Anyway. It does not work for me at all.
1. i could add an update column to the info dialog?
2. want to send me the xml you used? Group sticks the styles you export into a single xml, the name textbox lets you pick a name for that file instead of using a style name
Oh, and the garbage characters all over when you open it with an editor (like &, %, etc.)
i don't think there's much i can do about that
edit: it now adds the style amount to the exported xml file
The update column in info will do me no good. I don't use info. And i don't use Update, as i said. 99.99% of the styles i have are mine. I don't need to update them from the site 'cause i update them myself locally and then post the update to the site. What i don't see any reason for me to do is either install it (the updated version i just posted) from US - again! making it a dupe of the style i'm updating or having to play with check/uncheck/save/close boxes. Of course, unchecking/checking those Update boxes in Info - one stop - would probably be better than constantly checking if styles still have their page url in place.
The extra characters - could it be the reason why my xml doesn't import? Don't think so but who knows. Of course, it also doesn't properly export ...

they get converted back to what they should be after import does the error console say anything when you export/import?
so do you mind sending me the xml file you were using (choggi@gmail.com)?
i'll see about a better way for what your doing, that said why not make the style, post it, then copy the url to the style you already have instead of making a new one?
That's what i'm doing right now. I copy/paste the new style url into my local style. Then i have to save/close because the Update box doesn't show at this point. After i close, i have to open it again and uncheck the Update box. Save/close.
I don't have any xml at this time, i deleted them all, i will try again of course, later.
the update checkmark just adds some text to the start of the url so it doesn't resolve, you could just add something else instead and hide the checkmark always (#UpdateCheck)
edit: if you want the Page button to work then add ChoGGiSezNOUPDATE to the start of the url so instead of http:// it would be ChoGGiSezNOUPDATEhttp://
ChoGGi, maybe i don't explain myself clearly. 1. Click Write New Style - the editor doesn't have Update checkbox and there's nothing in the URLbar. 2. Create a style, click Page, post your new style. 3. Copy/paste the url from the new style page into the editor URLbar. 4. Now you have to Save/Close the editor (because if you click Save, the Update checkbox won't show anyway). 5. Re-open the style, UNcheck the Update box and the url (in the editor urlbar) will change, ChoGGiSezNOUPDATE will be added to the start of the url. Save/Close.
The best way to solve it would be to always show the Update checkbox, including the new styles, and add the string as soon as the box is unchecked. This would save 3+ steps.
Stylish-Custom-0.5.7.xpi Global: you can use * in tags to apply to all websites ie: "*|enable somebadsite.com|disable" if you added/removed a tag using the info dialog it wouldn't toggle the style till after a restart changed tag toggle to only change for the current tab it now also toggles when you switch tabs Export: adds the style/enabled/disabled amount to the xml file also added it to the title Edit: checks the update url for text then hides or shows the update checkmark Info: added a textbox to delete multiple styles (you need to enter the style ids eg: 23,432,122) Snapshots: added a button to delete snapshots
Posted By: ChoGGiadded a clear button to standalone/sidebar
Good! Now i have to hide it! It shrinks my searchbar and i have to open the sidebar all the way to be able to see what i'm typing in there But don't you worry, i fixed it. Thanks, ChoGGi!
Initially, the update box seems to be reversed. If you check it, it shows url, if you uncheck it, it will ad your segment to it. If you close the style and open it again, it will have the box checked and you will have to uncheck it again.
Stylish-Custom-0.5.9.xpi Edit: changed the update url toggle to show the correct status changed the default time between checking the external edit file to 250 ms external edit keeps the scroll position Export: saves if you use XML or CSS files Snapshots: rearranged bottom area you can add styles to snapshots added a clean snapshots button to update style names/remove duplicates/remove missing styles
Thanks! It's great! I can't change the font default color though and the default (purple?!) is too hard on my eyes. However, i have nothing to test it on! Deleted the only xml i had and Export doesn't export anything. It doesn't work for me. Also! If you select all first but then change your mind and select enabled, it will select ... disabled! Clicking the Enabled button again will select All. It seems you have to click All again - this will de-select all and then click Enabled.

i don't use it to edit normally just for that and some other things

is there any error msg in the console?

i'll see about making the update checkmark show up after text has been entered in the url textbox
I can't remember 'ChoGGiSezNOUPDATE' every time i need it ;-)
Global:
you can use * in tags to apply to all websites
ie: "*|enable somebadsite.com|disable"
if you added/removed a tag using the info dialog it wouldn't toggle the style till after a restart
changed tag toggle to only change for the current tab
it now also toggles when you switch tabs
Export:
adds the style/enabled/disabled amount to the xml file
also added it to the title
Edit:
checks the update url for text then hides or shows the update checkmark
Info:
added a textbox to delete multiple styles (you need to enter the style ids eg: 23,432,122)
Snapshots:
added a button to delete snapshots
Import:
it wasn't overwriting styles
Manage Dialogs:
added a clear button to standalone/sidebar
But don't you worry, i fixed it.
Thanks, ChoGGi!
Edit:
changed the update url toggle to show the correct status
changed the default time between checking the external edit file to 250 ms
external edit keeps the scroll position
Export:
saves if you use XML or CSS files
Snapshots:
rearranged bottom area
you can add styles to snapshots
added a clean snapshots button to update style names/remove duplicates/remove missing styles
pspad has an option to add some line breaks for xml to be more legible (html>reformat html code)
However, i have nothing to test it on! Deleted the only xml i had and Export doesn't export anything. It doesn't work for me.
