Posted By: ChoGGi...then again it may be better to just remove "disable rules" and use snapshot instead....
NOoo...!! it's not the same! I want to disable all styles and enable 2 to see if they're conflicting. I then want to enable another one. Or i might enable top portion, just like exts. troubleshooting. I don't need any snapshooting in this situation, i need them disabled.

Izzy, no i don't understand, probably because i see a very limited use for snapshots in my setup. But still looking for an example when i'd want to use it, maybe i'm missing something. I can only see some use as you describe above if there's a way to restore to a certain snap, that means a checkbox list (+ userset store location would be nice). Maybe the way Session Manager does Load... menu item:
a window where you can select a snap /named by you previously/, clicking on that name drops a bottom panel with all styles in this snap where you can select/deselect styles.
This might be useful if you want to use the timing (night/day groups [snaps], for instance). But AFAIK, np didn't add it for sites, application only at this time.

Oh, and Izzy, you forgot 'Brass' and 'Glass' - i have a dozen of each! Tongue 2 Smileys
  • :) don't worry, disable isn't going anywhere for now, but when i do the multiple snapshots then i'll add disable/enable all (probably a menupopup with a list and disable/enable at the top)

it'd be easy to grab the time he added and use it for snapshots

    Stylish-Custom-0.2.9b2.xpi
did some work on the info dialog:
    doubleclick to edit a style
checkbox toggles enabled (i'm going to add a checkbox to edit dialog also, someone asked for it before)
press delete to remove a style (it'll ask first)
    escape to close dialog
added a button to create a new style (the list doesn't refresh though)

It says your server takes too long to respond. I'll wait (bet, you forgot to add something;)

...30 min. later - the same thing.
  • you mean for styles or the extension?
Yes, for your custom extension. I'd always want to check for style updates manually, although some might find such a feature useful.

Also, I confirm that your server is timing out. Dynamic DNS = Your own machine? Maybe it's switched off!
  • The S-C already has an autoupdate, since a few versions back.
  • Posted By: ChoGGipossibly, i'll add it to the todo, but it might be awhile :)
I didn't say "hurry up" - but feel free to do so LOL

Exactly what I meant - that is what would make a lot of sense. As it is now, I can only imagine what you also wrote: Make a snapshot, turn everything up, down, and around (to test compatibility issues) - and restore the snapshot when done.
Oh, and Izzy, you forgot 'Brass' and 'Glass' - i have a dozen of each!Tongue 2 Smileys
Didn't see the 3 dots, uh? Bleh Or was it one too much, since you only mention two other groups? ROFL
  • theres been a bit of thunder and rain around here, which seemed to be interfering with my net connection
    ahould be fine now

that auto-update only works if you grab the one from my site, the one on amo doesn't (it's still experimental)

    Izzy,
    Too funny! Surrender Smiley
  • added a wiki here, haven't gotten around to adding anything yet (no signup needed if anyone wants to have fun)
  • 4 hrs. later - nope, server times out. Some rain! ;-)
  • OK, 8 hrs later - gotit. Thanks!
    What does this mean?
Posted By: ChoGGipress delete to remove a style (it'll ask first)
    Press what delete? where's it?

I don't really care about this window, but can you make it sortable by clicking the treecols? you know, like system windows do.
  • Stylish-Custom-0.2.9.xpi
added a dialog to toggle/edit styles and show some info
re-added snapshot (and a restore snapshot)
added a find next button to edit dialog
added an enable toggle to edit dialog
Posted By: makondoPress what delete? where's it?
    on your keyboard
I don't really care about this window, but can you make it sortable by clicking the treecols? you know, like system windows do.
sorting doesn't seem to like me (we'll see about 0.3.0)
  • ;-) Don't worry about it. As i've said before, i can't care less about that window as i can't see any use for it (for me) but just thought for consistency with all system windows, it will probably be nice to be able to sort them that way - click on 'Name' treecol and it sorts alphabetically acceding/descending.

But what i do care about is the latest version - i can't use it as is. It now stretches too wide and gets on my way, pretty annoying. If you resize it, it hides all the important (to me) stuff, like Comment/Uncomment, the whole right side doesn't flex enough 'cause the toolbar is overloaded. BTW, didn't it, at some point, keep the highlight for comment/uncomment? I think i've seen it before: if you highlight a portion, click Comment, it would stay highlighted until you uncomment it. Or something like that. Now, if i comment something, i have to hunt it down again to uncomment. I might be mistaking, of course.
  • Stylish-Custom-0.3.0a.xpi
pressing the page button now takes you to the edit page (used to be the style page)
discard preview is now hidden instead of disabled
moved enable and update checkboxes to the bottom
renamed "Open in external editor" to "external editor"

i have sort working, but now i'm having some trouble making the list do stuff :)

it stays highlighted after you press comment (or at least it does for me)

Much better, thank you very much!
IMO, you can also eliminate Switch to Install button - it doesn't make any sense. I never use it. You either install or you edit and 'Save and Close' which does seemingly the same thing - it installs a style. Unless there's something i'm missing?

What i like about your info window is no matter how many styles you open from there, they will open in their own obviously separate windows unlike from the manager - when you open styles from there, they disappear on a click outside that window which means you have to bring them back one by one from the desktop toolbar or move each slightly so that you can cascade them at least and not edit a wrong style accidentally (which i have also done already! ;-). Do you think you might be able to fix that?

Highlight doesn't stay for me :-( It used to for a short while though. It only stays until you click something else ... like 'Preview'! Don't think my style has anything to do with it.
Posted By: ChoGGipressing the page button now takes you to the edit page (used to be the style page)
^ Great! Thanks a lot!! Would be really nice if it would also populate the CSS field if you click Page in a new style or, in fact, any un-published style - i mean it should be obvious you want to publish that style. That's what we're talking here about (at least i am ;-).

they both seem to open the same way to me. if you open them from the sidebar then yea firefox would be on top (unless you mean something else)

it only stays highlighted till you click elsewhere (i think that's a firefox textbox limitation though)

yeah i tried that already, it's in the todo

changed it to not show up for new styles (it should only show up when you install a style now)

    Stylish-Custom-0.3.0b.xpi
Switch to install was showing up for blank styles

@makondo i'd planned to get the treelist working before, but whatever :)

    edit:oops broke the enable checkbox
    edit2: ok it's good now
  • Thanks!
Don't hate me but!... i have yet another suggestion, if possible. Put Name and Url bars together, on one toolbar, and find and replace boxes on the other. As is now, i sometimes accidentally type in the replace box instead of the Find bar! It just would be one less thing to remember and watch out for.
Thanks for whatever you decide though.
  • Stylish-Custom-0.3.0c.xpi
    added "Replace..." to replace boxes
i did a workaround for the enable checkbox which made it save the style twice (it now only does it once)

@makondo the url/tags on one line doesn't sound too bad, but for now i added some text for you
  • edited June 2009
Sharks! i forgot about the tag box since i don't use it and hide it. See, i was thinking Name + Url / Replace + Search. But since tags field may take more than one-two words, maybe then Name + Url / Tags / Replace + Search?

I'm not sure what you're talking about with the enable and save stuff ... but if it screws the style i was working on inbetween this last two versions, i'll send you a bill ;-)
Posted By: ChoGGi ... i added some text for you
^ very funny LOL Smiley Animated but thanks a lot! It sure does help!
  • Name + Url / Tags / Replace + Search?
i don't normally use tags/url/replace, i do use search though. so i'm happy with where the search box is :)
url/tags on one line then move the replace area to the custom toolbar (next to merge)?
I'm not sure what you're talking about with the enable and save stuff ... but if it screw the style i was working on inbetween this last two versions, i'll send you a bill ;-)
i doubt it would mess up anything, just makes it take longer to save
  • Since you put the 'Replace' word (for dummies), i don't think you need to do anything there. Thanks you!
  • edited June 2009
    Stylish-Custom-0.3.0d.xpi
ctrl+r to focus on the first replace area
the function for saving the search text now saves blank if you cleared it out
find and replace with nothing now works (instead of replacing with Replace...)
fixed the toggle rules / snapshot menuitems
if anyone noticed an error from stylish's manage.js with this extension enabled, it's also fixed
changed the code to respect global namespaces (let me know if you notice anything not working the same)

i did try to check everything as i had to change a fair amount for the namespaces, but like i said in the changelog

    Options:
rightclick an option to reset to default
    Edit:
enable checkbox doesn't do anything till you save
changing the auto!important key now works immediately
ctrl+f and crtl+r now focus anywhere in the edit dialog
    Global:
used JSLint to clean up the js a bit
  • Oh, man! ... you have no idea ... The F'ing 3.5 update screw everything here in 6 profiles/2 win users! this has never happen to me in 5 years of using it, betas and such...
Have to restore the puter to yesterday and start over. Slowly. So, thanks for the update but can't see how good it is.

just noticed after i posted it the enable checkbox doesn't work right on new styles, so i fixed that and changed the 0.3.0 xpi

edit: didn't have any problems with the 3.5 release, the betas did give me a few issues with styles i needed to fix though :) and a no logins saving problem on the first beta i tried

actually have you noticed firefox messing up when you play a long fullscreen flash video (over 15 mins or so). i'm using v10.0.22.87 winxp x64 and no other plugins installed
it freezes or the controls freeze i've forgotten which, i just download long ones now
    example
  • Posted By: ChoGGii'm using v10.0.22.87 winxp x64
You're actually using XP64, or an x86-64 build of Flash, or of Firefox?
  • xp x64 with firefox 3.5 32bit
is there a x64 build of flash?
