Google - corrupted display with dif. styles

I'm having a strange problem here. Using Greg's Brushed Google, Valacar' dark gray and blue - i see the top part of the page themed, and 2/3d just white w/unreadable font. See pic.
Since it shows the same with different styles and for different google sites (start search/search results), i'm assuming it has to do more with google than styles. However, if i switch styles, it shows correctly at first but on reload/opening a link will get screwed again! I don't see any body mentioning any thing like that - searched - and wonder if it's a strange conflict with my exts. ... all of a sudden (didn't install any for a while). Or did google change something on their site(-s)?

    Google changes its css more often than I change my underwear.

    I use different styles than you do and it just whacked out about 12 hours ago.

    If you use more than one style you should expect conflicts as Google changes. Just look for updates from the authors. I'm sure they use Google every day and will notice when changes occur.

    Thanks, Webb! I had this going on for a week by now, IIRC.
    I don't expect Greg to update his Brushed style - i think he's just got fed up with their changes. Don't know about Valacar, would be nice though.

    Yeah, the problem is that you're using two styles that are styling the same things, so there's bound to be problems.

    Think about it...if you have one style that makes a web page's background color blue and another style that makes the background red...what color will it end up being? Only one can win. I don't want to get technical on how to fix it, but it is possible using something in CSS called "specificity". Also, it's not a change I would make to my google styles just for this particular case, so I'd just recommend turning off one of the styles.

    Thanks for taking the time, Valacar. I use only one style at a time ... of course. As you can see on the pic, it was the blue one at that time. But it looks the same with any of the three (see the OP).

    My only other guess is that you have a global style active that's changing the background color. Try clicking on the Stylish icon in the statusbar and look in the "Global Styles" to see if you have anything that might be changing the background colors. I've seen quite a few bad styles that don't use @-moz-document to specify that a style is for a certain site, and it ends up applying globally to all sites, so it's a possibility that you have one of those styles installed.

    If that doesn't work, you can try making a slight change to the code. For my blue google style, on line 19, you'll find this:

    body {
    change it to this:
    html > body {
    Also, be sure you've updated the blue google style...I made a few changes yesterday (May 16th).

    EDIT: I just thought of something else. Judging from the screenshot, it appears you have something that's adding icons to google. Are you using a greasemonkey script to do that? If that's the case, try turning off greasemonkey to see if that helps.

    I'm not sure what's happened here but my reply didn't post for some reason.
    Anyway, i'll repeat in case it won't show later - i have SiteAdvisor ext. which adds rating icons to google but i had this forever, well before it became mcafee and never had any problems with it.
    I've checked my styles for the background code and found one in my Content style:

    Why it's there i'm not sure, i'm guessing a sloppy copy/paste on my part. I commented it out and it looks good so far.
    And yes, I've updated my (your) styles yesterday.
