What should you be putting in :root vs. HTML?

While the :root selector and html selector both target the same HTML elements, it may be useful to know that :root actually has a higher specificity. Pseudo-class selectors (but not pseudo-elements) have a specificity equal to that of a class, which is higher than a basic element selector.

    Is this some new type of meta-spam where they don't even bother with spam links? Do they make random posts related to the forum and edit the spam links in later?

    More than likely. They think they are being sneaky, and obviously don't know what a change log is.
