How did Userstyles get access to my Google account?

  Did you log into this website using your Google account? Are you now thinking that might not have been the best idea, even though it's super-convenient?

  Yes, I am logged in with Google - deliberately, to avoid giving this site any of my personal details. Logging in externally with Google seemed like a great privacy precaution as I assume Google encrypts everything, so the third party site can't see any of my Google login details.
  
  Surely it's like when you pay for stuff with PayPal? You log in to those sites through a PayPal prompt, but the site itself doesn't see those details. Or when you leave comments below various articles, you log in with Disqus. You're not giving those sites access to your Disqus or PayPal accounts are you?
  
  If Google handles the login (as implicitly stated by the phrase "log in with Google") then what possible reason could Userstyles have to access to my Google account?
  
  Alternatively, if Google isn't handling the login, that suggests I've signed up to some kind of account here on Userstyles? But at no stage in the process was I informed about that - the login page simply said "Log in with Google" and there wasn't a word about any NEW account being created.
  
  And if Userstyles has created its own account for me here (without my permission or knowledge) then why is Google needed? What is the point of getting Google involved, if it's not offering a secure external login?
  
  By the way, Jscher - are you following me? Or do you just hang out on a LOT of forums!? Or do you represent a team of people? You seem quite omnipresent! :D

  They don't see your Google login, but they can request data from your Google account, possibly similar to your basic Google+ profile.

  You always need an account to sign into a site. When you sign in using a third party service, you save the step of creating new credentials for the new account.

  I do have way too many forum tabs open. Maybe I should accidentally delete my session history and get a life. :-)
