I can't install Stylish anymore.

I don't know what happened today, but this add on dissapeared from my web browser. Like it's uninstalled by itself.

  • mine is gone as well
  • If I go in chrome://extensions/ it says "This extension violates the Chrome Web Store policy".

For me it says: 404. That’s an error.

  • I also got "This extension violates the Chrome Web Store policy."

But I still can turn it back on.

They were collecting your entire browser history and sending it to a remote server.
    Very, very shitty.

And if you still want to use stylish (even if they track your browsing data), go into the three dots in the top right corner of your screen, go to "More tools", go to "Extensions", and then switch stylish back on.

That's not the only problem. I tried to reinstall Stylish, and all my previously installed styles and custom-made ones are gone. I always backup my styles, but after reinstalling Stylish, the option to import/export saved styles is no longer available. There's only the options to write new styles or edit pre-made ones you download. (EDIT: Seems like I installed ReStyle instead of reinstalling Stylish. I didn't know there were two different branches of the same product. Why are there two?)

What's even worse, is that I can't even install styles anymore. I picked styles I want to install and click on install, but nothing happens--it's as if the install button on the style's page doesn't even react at all. It's like that for all styles. Also, many styles I click on would time out and the page's content would not show up. I'd have to refresh over and over to get the pages to show up.

Something bad is going on, and I'm really upset because there are no alternatives to Stylish and I can't live without it (I customize all my GUI to dark themes--I get headaches from staring at white backgrounds that's ubiquitous on the web).
  • Try using Stylus. It works and can import Stylish backups.

  • Niet Belangijk, Thank you very much!
  • You are a legend, thank the hell out of you!
  • Yeah, I finally figured out it was because I was trying to install ReStyle. But although I did use the "reset" method posted in the other thread and managed to reactivate Stylish, I couldn't get it to load my styles, so I tried to uninstall and reinstall it, except after uninstalling, there's no way to reinstall is, since clicking on "Install for Chrome" on userstyles.org doesn't do anything at all, and installing from Chrome's store is no longer possible either.

Another dev released an analytics free option when the new Stylish devs released the extension that added it. This one hasn't been updated since 2/2017 however.

    From the extension:
"reStyle is a fork of Stylish, without any analytics code. reStyle is an authorized fork of Stylish under its GPLv3 license, but is otherwise not affiliated with Stylish in any way."

Stylus is analytics free and has some cool features you should check out, plus excellent support.

  • You guys do know that Stylish tracks every website you view right? Even gives unique identifiers to you as well so they know who you are...
