You really can't straight copy the css code from styles on this site to userChrome.css and have it work because they aren't designed for the new Firefox.
There are quite a few differences, but fewer than you might think from the significantly changed appearance.
I got 3.0.0 update few days ago. It disabled many of my styles and I needed to add them again (event they were downloaded from userstyles), which was more difficult because it didn't recognise regexp's, so I needed to apply style to certain sities again.
But the biggest issue was that the style sometimes on some pages doesn't work. When I click "Deactivate", then "Activate" it works again. On some pages styles doesn't work or works partially.
Later I saw that new version was removed hopefully, so I backed to 2.1.1 again. Everything worked again. One hour ago again I got an update, but with version 3.0.1. I hoped that this bug was repaired, but unfortunately not. Still few pages don't get custom themes (not always) or gots partially.
By the way it's good to make Stylish for Firefox looks more similar to Stylish on Chrome, unfortunately the looking of it on google browser is very unintuitive. For instance from css-code disappeared for me regexp and I needed "apply style to URLs on domain/starting with/matching regexp".
Also the editor is now more poor as previous version. Editing styles on it was always bad, but now it's nightmare.
There are other default indentations pr tabulators compared to older version and when I type something I didn't get proposals. On old version when I started to type "!im..." i got "!important". There this option is missing.
Wouldn't be a problem if you keep old GUI of Stylish, but compatible with Fireox 57+?
My theme never ported over when I updated. It was this theme * { text-shadow: none !important; } Is there anyway to do this? Thanks.
Is that rule meant to apply to Firefox's user interface or to all websites or both? Maybe there is a little more context if you copy/paste the entire code that appears in the editor.
Then it should do the data format conversion in preparation for 3.0.

Since you run ESR, you should stop updates for Stylish on 2.1.1. On the Add-ons page, click the More link for Stylish, scroll down, and disable auto-updates.
Thanks a lot, Jefferson !
I can now happily carry on using Stylish on ESR without bothering about the 'innovations' done here. There should try to learn how to upgrade/update without breaking support for older versions :/
So if you want to continue to alter your Firefox UI revert back Stylish to 2.1.1 and do not let Firefox update past Firefox 56.
Staying on version 56 is going to quickly become unsafe. If you want to use older addons, use the ESR version as this will still get security updates for several months.

I'm still staying on FDE 56. Would love to use ESR but FDE 56 speed is too nice and it's also smooth. Kinda hoping Mozilla give security patch for those that refuse to upgrade lol but not gonna happen. ESR not that bad I guess :)
Neither 3.0.0 nor 3.0.1 work: no styles in list, no changes in styled sites, addon just loads 1 (sometimes 2) CPU core(s) until it's disabled. Reverted back to 2.1.1 which works. Firefox 56.0, Gentoo Linux / amd64. Other active addons: Adblock, Ghostery, NoScript, Video download professional. Have ~5 very simple styles like this: https://userstyles.org/styles/81175.
I have a strobe sensitivity. I need to block flashing, animation, etc. so I don't get migraines and don't get sick. Some people may need them so they do not get *seizures.* Now all my styles have stopped working-- I guess stylish wouldn't auto-update to 2.11, but would to 3.00-- how do I get the last working version?
I am not a programmer, and can't figure out the manual migrain-- migration instructions to the current non-working version, with this migraine.
Okay, I was able to install 2.11 over 3.00. I am using ESR, because I can't get a clear answer on which accessibility/not-frying-my-brain tools 57 will break, and what workarounds will be available.

Off automatic updates too to prevent new version installing.
Since this morning I have lost my userstyle on Digital Spy. I was using Digital Spy Forum 2017 Blue -V.4 on Firefox 52. I have uninstalled Stylish and reinstalled it, reloaded the userstyle, all to no avail.
The Stylish S on the Address bar, is now black on white. I am sure it was coloured previously.
Is there anybody that can help me with simple steps, as I am not very technically minded!

Hi Marja, considering the number of customization you use, you are making the right choice. ESR will continue to receive security updates until next Spring, and by then the situation should be much clearer.
If you want to stop your extensions from auto-updating to WebExtensions versions, you can change the auto-update default preference:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful or accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste autou and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the extensions.update.autoUpdateDefault preference to switch the value from true to false
With that change, when you visit the Add-ons page, you should notice a new section for Available Updates at the bottom left when Firefox has detected extension updates and is waiting for you to approve them.
Hi Jefferson! I want to apologize for my initial reaction. I had a few issues in that the styles didn't transfer over but when I reloaded the previous version it triggered the info so that when I switched back to the new version all my styles were there. Thank you for all you help!

Good to hear! (No need to apologize; this transition period was just too short to meet everyone's needs.)
Hi lazeca, starting in Firefox 57, Legacy extensions (you may have seen that tag on various of your extensions on the Add-ons page) will no longer work. Stylish 3 uses the WebExtensions API, which is similar to Chrome's extensions system, and it cannot modify the UI very much. Please see the other discussion about the Extended Support Release of Firefox 52 if you want to keep up-to-date with Firefox security updates while avoiding Firefox 57. Act soon -- 57 is releasing in a couple of days.
So FF is dropping support for modifying UI as it was previously... got it. ... So as far as I got it now, I can do all the same styling simply by creating a dedicated file for it - userChrome.css ?
Nearly everything. Scrollbars and some form controls are protected from modification. More info on a site I recently posted here: https://www.userchrome.org/
I have like 30 own styles, and I have to migrate them manually one by one?
I have the same issue, and the problem is that I can't even get that to work. 1. stylish icon > Manage All Styles > click here > click on one of the copy buttons 2. stylish icon > Create new Style > MozillaFormat Import > paste (ctrl+v) 3. give it a name, click on save...
... and nothing happens. I click on "save" several times, but nothing happens. No errors, nothing. It is not applied to the page, it is not saved, nothing. So, how is this supposed to work?

Okay, I added some new buttons to my extractor tool. It allows you to create an importable file of "Personal" (also known as "Local") styles that Stylish ignores during the migration.
This app was perfect now it is feces ! What have you done . My eyes cannot handle white google background. Stylish will not work on google on win7 pro or win8 or win10 way to go ! Progress doesnt mean change FFS people leave what is good alone !
Hi! I was unaware of this update and didn't have a chance to upgrade to 2.1.1 before 3.0.0 came out. After the update, the styles that I downloaded are still there, but the ones I wrote myself are gone. Is there any way for me to retrieve my old styles? Would downgrading to 2.1.1 and backing them up from there do it? I read through the thread so far but I wasn't clear whether that would fix my particular problem (lost styles), so I just wanted to make sure. Thanks! :)
(Also, is there a newsletter or something I can subscribe to so I can make sure to get important news like this in the future?)

Find "Version 2.1.1" and click "+ Add to FireFox".

Is this stylish or FF policies?
So FF is dropping support for modifying UI as it was previously... got it.
But I don't wanna stuck on ff56(or 52) for security issues... prev. versions always have some issues with it.

Is that rly so simple?!
Is there an option to modify the "about:newtab" and "about:blank" as well with it, can you tell?
Thanks again Jefferson!
