Well you could also use SC v0.8.4 in Palemoon, if you want a bugfix for v0.8.3 that could also be arranged.

After you install it I recommend:
stylish-custom Options > "Change right-click action for style menuitems" checkbox > choose "edit" and not "menu"

The default has been switched around for v0.8.5

    Edit:

    not supporting Codemirror

    Not sure what that means?
  • edited May 2016 Firefox
thanks for the link LL25, but can only report 0.8.5 doesnt work for me with Stylish 2.0.6 in Fx 45.0.2 or Pm 26.2.1, its the same as 0.8.4, no change to the editor at all

Also you forgot to mention ppl need to toggle xpinstall.signatures.required from true to false to install unsigned addons to Firefox now. And your comments confused, suggesting to use SC 0.8.5 in Firefox, then to use SEM in Firefox, presume you meant to use SC 0.8.5 in Palemoon & SEM in Firefox. Either way will try 8.0 8.1 8.2 in Palemoon to see if theyre any better than 7.9, thanks again

  • Hi ChoGGi! Palemooning?
  • edited May 2016 Chrome
    Heya mak :)
I normally run a few different browsers

edit: @nonaz I run SC 0.8.5/stylish 2.0.6 in palemoon 26.2.1, what sort of issues are you having?
  • edited May 2016 Firefox
Hey ChoGGi, theres just no change to the editor with SC 0.8.5/stylish 2.0.6/PM 26.2.1, also tried changing editor mode to 1 in about:config, no difference, & tested on a new profile, using win7 64 if relevant

Edit: just saw your previous comment asking what i meant by
... tho really only relevant for Palemoon now, not supporting Codemirror & not compatible with SEM 48.0.4

I just meant SEM 48.0.4 + 2.0.6 with Codemirror functionality makes more sense than SC 0.8.3 etal + 1.4.3 as a plain text only editor
  • edited May 2016 Firefox
    @nonaz,
Try this in Palemoon: Here (SEM48.0.4PM)
But no Code Mirror support yet.
  • great stuff Sonny

worth noting codemirror modes safe to use, but has no findbar available, need to switch to standard for it instead

but thats expected so its all fully functional sans codemirror, thanks

A problem with Choggi's SC new versions in both palemoon and firefox:

    https://choggi.org/misc/Stylish-Custom/
It happens in SC 0.8.5 (and also 0.8.4) when running the latest Stylish 2.06 (or 2.04) :
Creating more than one style (by "clone" or by SC's "new style") causes a problem.
The second style created overwrites the previous created style !!

Tested on a new/fresh palemoon 26.2.2 profile. (same results in Firefox 46)
    Win 7 x64

@ChoGGi m can you please fix it ?

Meanwhile, I'm reverting in PaleMoon (not in Firefox) back to stylish 1.4.3.1 with SC 0.7.9
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/versions/?page=1#version-1.4.3.1-signed
SC 0.8.3. version doesn't have that issue but it has a different issue - after you clone a style you can't resize the newly created window.

N.B. When you change from one SC version to another don't forget to Uninstall the addon b/c choggi changed the Extension ID after 0.8.3

You can use the ESR release of Firefox 45 to postpone the enforcement of the extension signing requirement for another 6 months or so. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/
  • There is still a way to use unsigned extensions.
If after that unsigned extensions still won't work, just reinstall them.

Thanks, need to try that out now :) Wonder where that file is located on mac... Though 48 renders awesomebar unusable with NNL as theme...

So submit it and get it signed. It's trivially easy.

Alternatively, stay on the release channel but switch to an unbranded build.

Can't go about submitting other peoples extensions :D I just wonder why those extensions that are compatible with 48, but for some reason seem to be abandoned, moz wont autosign...
  • There's signing, and then there's signing. If you don't want the add-on listed on AMO then the review is automated, it does a few basic functionality checks, and it's done in a few seconds. If you do want to list it on AMO then the checking is more rigorous, and the add-on may be queued for manual review if you're using COM interfaces or Javascript features that could compromise browser stability or security.

You're in that first group. Get it signed without listing it, don't pass it around, and no harm's done.

Which extensions do you mean? Weren't all listed add-ons autosigned when the policy was introduced ("How do I get my add-ons signed if they are hosted on addons.mozilla.org (AMO)?")?

Somebody have the signed version of SEM with the search function activated ?

    Ps :
    I install a new PC :
When i use only one screen (before 2) , i can't see the SEM window (which was on the 2th screen.
    If i reconnect the 2th , it's the same:
I can't access to the SEM window (it here in the task bar but don't shown , i need to close it)
    The only solution i found:
Delete Stylish and SEM - i use my Backup of it - and reinstall them...
    After it's good...

Have you an other solution ?

You need to figure out what exactly you're using and stick to the proper thread, it's getting confusing.
SEM - Stylish Editor Modified by Sonny: https://forum.userstyles.org/discussion/44577/stylish-editor-mod#latest
This thread here is about Stylish-Custom by ChoGGi.
And then there's a thread about now dead Stylish-Custom Addon. Somebody needs to delete that thread since it's about nothing and only confuses people.
So, which one do you have and which one your question is about? If it's about SEM by Sonny, post in his thread, again, here: https://forum.userstyles.org/discussion/44577/stylish-editor-mod#latest
  • Wait, they're not all just steps in the evolution of the same add-on?

    Yup!

  • Wait, they're not all just steps in the evolution of the same add-on?

I kind of stopped adding new features to SC, but I still use it for myself, so I keep it updated and signed (plus I don't think SEM works with Stylish 2.0.7).

and speaking of which I finally figured out why styles were overwriting the last installed style, so 0.8.5 is up (but not approved yet by AMO)

    Changes from 0.8.4:
Fixed issue with overwriting last style
Fixed issue with enable checkbox showing wrong status
    Fixed manage toolbarbutton
    Fixed "New" search being hidden
    F3 to find next
Changed default for style menu rightclick to edit
  • edited October 2016 Firefox
Yes !! the "overwriting" bug is fixed (the bug I reported here - https://forum.userstyles.org/discussion/comment/104611/#Comment_104611 )

Many thanks ChoGGi for keeping SC alive !! :)

New bugs in the new 0.8.6 :

bug1 - Editing a style and Customizing the toolbars affects only the specific style meaning that if then edit other styles i get the default customization.

bug2 - Clone doesnt work (It is the same as the "new style' button)

Tested on a new fresh Cyberfox 49
    Stylish 2.0.7
    SC 0.8.6
    Win 7 x64

N.B. When you change from one SC version to another don't forget to Uninstall the addon b/c choggi changed the Extension ID after 0.8.3
  • technically 0.8.5, but anyways fixed issue 1 which fixed issue 2
    https://choggi.org/misc/Stylish-Custom/Stylish-Custom-0.8.6.xpi

Fixed issue with toolbars remembering layout for each style instead of global layout
Cloned styles now properly appear (below each other that is, and you can clone as many as you want now)
Switched to author instead of agent sheets
Added placeholder to ScratchPad / enlarged default ScratchPad height
Exposed pref extensions.stylish.custom.dark (for undetected dark themes)
  • ChoGGi, Thanks for your update of SC.
    That's a good new !
Say to us when it shall be on Moz.
  • edited October 2016 Chrome
I think it's in 80/120 or so in the queue

Edit: I did a temp signing on it (which means I used the old sc ID, so if you need a signed copy you can use it till AMO signs the other one)
    https://choggi.org/misc/Stylish-Custom/Stylish-Custom-0.8.6_TEMPsigned.xpi
  • Yes, the new 2 issues are fixed. Thanks again ChoGGi !
  • cant't customize font-size and font-family in your editor. what hinders?

    dialog textbox#internal-code  {
    color: #234 !important; /* ok */
    font-weight: bold !important; /* works */
    font-family: "DejaVu Sans Mono",monospace !important; /* doesn't work */
    font-size: 16px !important; /* nope */
    }
  • You can change it in Options>Text, but that code works for me? Are you testing it on 48?
  • Tested in Fx49 with the same result: font-size and font-family cannot be changed neither through CSS nor through Optons->Text. I think these parameters are hard-coded somewhere in the depths of Firefox and we can't affect them.

  • That code works for me on 49/52 nightly

Anything in the error console or you may have a style overriding it?

Don't know if it'll help, but I fixed some other stuff since last post
    https://choggi.org/misc/Stylish-Custom/Stylish-Custom-0.8.6_TEMPsigned.xpi
Still got a couple other issues I want to work on before sticking 0.8.6 on AMO
