Need help changing an image

I wasn't sure whether to mark this as Development or Requests but it's such a small thing, I think, that it might as well just be written for me. I'm very much a newbie at anything code-related and while I've figured a couple of things out by mimicking the existing style code I just can't get this one to work.

I want to change an image on Flight Rising: http://www1.flightrising.com/
(you need to be logged in to actually see the image I want to replace)

More specifically, I want to change this image:
https://i.imgur.com/rWjXGTS.png

Into this:
https://i.imgur.com/kK7dHj2.png

The style that I'm using for the dark theme was good for mimicking code... up until now. It makes use of code like this:

img[src$="/static/layout/forum/forum-icon-message.png"]{display: block; -moz-box-sizing: border-box; box-sizing: border-box;
background: url(http://www1.flightrising.com/static/layout/small_message.png) no-repeat;

which, as I understand, is meant to hide the original image and set the desired image as a background. I've tried copying that method and nothing really appears to happen.

Would appreciate some assistance! Thanks!
