after firefoy prompted me to deactivate stylish as it "is known as a source for performache and stability issues", I want to the AMO page to check if I have the most recent version. And there I realized Stylish is no longer listed on there.
What i earth is going on?

Ah. This seems to explain it.

I stumble into this thread https://www.ghacks.net/2017/01/04/major-stylish-add-on-changes-in-regards-to-privacy/ (esp. gorhill comment) last year and since then I no longer update my Stylish addon, though it's not really a problem for Firefox because of their addon reviewing process, I guess.
Probably Mozilla remove Stylish from addon store because of this reddit post here https://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/8vpqqg/stylish_browser_extension_steals_all_your/ and seems many were effected.
Use Stylus instead for Firefox and Chrome https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/styl-us/ I'm still using old Stylish 2.1.1 for my Waterfox.
As I can see it, Stylish was also removed from the Chrome webstore.
Preaching this for more than a year now: Use Stylus! It's opensource, stable, actively developed, has nice extra features, no analytics, easy change from Stylish (quite similar UI, importing styles from Stylish to Stylus possible).
(1) In Stylish 3.x, use Backup All Installed to generate a .json file (the .json extension needed to be added in 3.0.1, but this might have been fixed later)
(2) In Stylus, use Import Styles to read in the file
Is that it??
You can simply drag'n'drop the Stylish dump file into the style manager page of Stylus - even without adding
.json
to the file name.@Jefferson Yes, that's all you need to do.
The Wiki still contains the part about the missing file extension. I'll check out if it's still true.
So to the "json problem" there are three easy solutions:
*.*
instead of*.json
/edit
Stylish 3.1.1 in Firefox still gives you a file with cryptic filename and no extension.
Unfortunately I cannot test the Chrome version as I don't have a copy and it's gone from the webstore.
