replace image with text

edited August 2007 in Style Development

I'd like to replace an image with text. Not displaying an image works with "display: non !important;".

I tried to add an ":after" in a new stanza with the same beginning as for not displaying the image, following a 'content: "abc";' - but that doesn't seem to work. Has anyone a hint for me how I can replace an image with a text correctly?

  • CSS 2.1 spec: "This specification does not fully define the interaction of :before and :after with replaced elements (such as IMG in HTML). This will be defined in more detail in a future specification."

Behaviour's not defined, so Firefox doesn't implement it.
