microsummary for install counts

edited March 2007 in userstyles.org
I found that I was often checking back to see if anyone had installed the styles I wrote. So I made this microsummary for userstyles.org (using this handy greasemonkey script). I thought someone else (the narcissists among us ;)) might use it.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <generator xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/microsummaries/0.1" name="Install counts for userstyles"> <pages> <include>^http://userstyles\.org/style/show/</include> </pages> <template> <transform xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0"> <output method="text"/> <template match="/"> <value-of select="normalize-space(string(/html/body/h1))"/> <text> : </text> <value-of select="normalize-space(string(//div[@id='install-counts']))"/> </template> </transform> </template> </generator>
Copy & paste this in a .xml file & put that in the 'microsummary-generators' folder in your profile folder.

Here's how it looks:

I further added this to Stylish (taken from style) to make the full titles visible.
#bookmarks-ptf > toolbarbutton[label="Micro"] > menupopup > menuitem { max-width: 40em !important; }

  • Nice idea. You should probably post it to http://userstyles.org/livetitle.

    Lately I've been thinking of making a greasemonkey script to show install counts next to each style when visiting my profile. That way I can just visit my profile without having to click on each style to see how many installs they have. I like microsummaries, but I don't really need constant updates for the install count...just something I can check when I feel like it.

    Yeah the main idea was to have info in one place. Also since they are my first few styles I was eager to see what became of them :) The script sounds a far better idea.
