Old Look "Night Shade" Theme,
  • I would like to see Night Shade again.
Could you help me make that happen?
I would be glad if you could make it easier to find what variables to change in the code...
    Thanks!, and Good job!

    Ps.
Bill have made a good list, on things to work on:
    http://williamahuston.blogspot.com.ar/2012/04/why-i-prefer-gmails-old-look-themes.html

The thing I miss the most is the Gmail-icon that when clicked takes you back to inbox.
Now replaced with a Google icon that is not clickable, and i have to search for the smaller "inbox"-link, or click twice on the new triple-link...

I'm quite happy with that this style make the left side column scroll together with the middle one, but when using Labs: "right-side-chat" I would prefer to have the separate scroll for the chat.

Lets see if we can make all this happen...
    ;)

  • Hi!

Glad that you liked my work. Of course, I'll do a separate style for Night Shade very soon and also try to define the variables in the style to help users to customize it easily.

    Stay tuned!
    Thanks :)

  • Oh, You make me happy by just saying that!

At the moment I'm used to more dark theme, so I'm not using your current version.

In fact I'm useing a combination of the following four:
http://userstyles.org/styles/61208/gmail-dark-theme makes nice buttons, and frame the left column, still to hard to see the unread emails though. only bold text on the same background color is not enough. Your style has this covered, but many other styles override this when combined. So documentation on how not to override this would be nice.
http://userstyles.org/styles/62621/gmail-messages-rounded-and-compressed adds very important readability to messages, but you got that covered. I still think that the "show details" button is to small though, and I miss the different colored names for different senders.
    http://userstyles.org/styles/56063/gmail-easy-access-colored-buttons A nice lift!
    http://userstyles.org/styles/12304/gmail-2-highlighted-rows-tree-theme Very important!
All of them have details to be inspired by...

Also found this one that I like:
    http://userstyles.org/styles/3958/gmail-2-small-attachment-icons

However, yours is the most complete one I've found so far, and is the one I would like to base a fork on...
I'm really glad you also wanna make this happen!

*(when I write "your style" I may refer to http://userstyles.org/styles/64483/gmail-b2b that is a fork base on your style. The code looked very similar to yours before you made the last update (may 24) , and now I can't tell what differ. That fork had some details that I preferred when I compared yesterday... )

Howdy, Stranger!
